5/18/2012--Doncaster

Today we took a train to Doncaster and researched at the records office there. We looked at records from both books and microfiche. They were way harder to read than last time.  However, at the end we looked through parish registers that were all typed up and they went super fast.  We were super short on time by that point though so we were speeding as fast as we could! It was super intense. We should be able to find the rest at the Family History Library in SLC but they will be a little more difficult. Heidi found Henry Flower (who she's been trying to find for the last several years) and she was absolutely ecstatic! It was awesome.

We found this emblem on one of our family pedigrees and decided it should be our family crest. haha. It's like a weird dog sticking his tongue out! We aren't allowed to put a photo of the real thing on this blog, so this is my rough sketch. It was so hilarious though! We were laughing so hard. Michelle and I laughed a lot today come to think of it...especially when we had to go use the bathroom. It was definitely the creepiest bathroom I have ever been in. I felt like we were in a concentration camp. There was even barbwire! Doncaster is definitely lacking in the beauty and comfort aspect.

On the way back we went shopping at Primark. That store is going to be the death of me (or rather my bank account). Then we had Subway for dinner and it was so nice to have American food! The guys there were totally flirting with Michelle. European men are always in love with her. haha.

On the train ride home there was this cute little girl who was playing hide-and-seek with her granddad.  She got Michelle to play with her too and it was so cute!

We made a quick stop at the grocery store and then came home! :) I can't believe how fast we go through milk and yogurt, but they are so yummy here!
