5/15/2012--Headingly

Today was a pretty lazy day. I slept in until 11:30, and DeAnn's clothes have been washing for ten hours. The washing machine is obviously not in a hurry, and we do not have a key to unlock it with. haha. We spent the afternoon walking through shops in Headingly and eating food. It was nice. It was a pretty sunny day, but still cold.

There are lots of cool shops along the main street. After going through several charity shops (thrift stores), DeAnn realized that she parked her bicycle in a very inopportune spot.  She wasn't quite sure how to get it down.

Do we look Polish??? When we went into the library today (to print of a ticket for DeAnn), two girls stared us down and then had an argument over whether or not we were Polish.  As we were leaving and passed them, they said "you missed an argument. Are you Polish?" I told them "no, we're American" and they looked at us dumbfoundedly and disappointed. It was so funny! We were also asked if we were Swedish today by a lady in one of the charity shops. People seem to be confused about our nationality here. No one seems to think we're American.

After the library we went to Shaky Jakes and had some delicious shakes! It was kind of like our lunch because we (or rather I) had breakfast at lunchtime. Their shakes are not thick at all like ours. They're really runny and easy to drink. I really liked them!

DeAnn had a Dogfather...like the godfather of hotdogs I guess. It looked pretty fabulous but was very difficult to eat.

Another highlight of the day was that DeAnn brought a little Cricket set at this awesome store! DeAnn ran across the street right in front of a video police car to take this picture. haha. I am no questioning how safe of a crossing guard she is.

After Headingly, we went to downtown Leeds and did more shopping. We bought a ton of cool things at Primark. It's my new favorite store! They have so much cute stuff and it's insanely cheap...you can get awesome sunglasses for less than $2 and super cute scarves for less than $5!

Then we went to Nando's again for dinner. We love it there! It's so yummy. I wish I could handle spicy food better though. I think it tastes so good but I hate having my mouth on fire. I guess I need to eat it more often.

After dinner DeAnn and Michelle went back home and Heidi and I went to mutual because Heidi is the young women's president. It was a fabulous day for sure.
