Today one of my childhood dreams was fulfilled. Ever since I watched the 5-hour version of Pride & Prejudice, I wanted to see Pemberley in real life SO bad! I never thought that wish would be granted, but today it really was! We spent 4 hours exploring Lyme Park (the real name of Pemberley) and the surrounding gardens. It was so gorgeous, and we had the most perfect sunny day! (except for it was freezing...try going from summer weather to being in the 50's). I was freaking out the entire time!
Here is the gorgeous estate of Lyme. I wasn't super impressed with the inside. It was really dark and super old, but the outside blows me away!
This is the staircase that Darci runs down in the movie.
Poor DeAnn sat on a bench the entire time we were exploring the gardens, but she had fun people watching.
Next we went to the hill in the Princess Bride where Wesley gets pushed down the hill and yells "as you wish!" It was crazy, because it's like super steep cliffs and they're still covered in vegetation. I've never seen such green cliffs before, and there are sheep EVERYWHERE!
Michelle (fakely) pushed Heidi down the hill in honor of the movie...
and I tried to recreate the picture on my "As You Wish" t-shirt...for those of you who haven't seen it, don't worry about it. Just know that the reason I'm leaning over is I was trying to make my hair blow in the wind.
Definitely a happy and successful day :)
After we went to "as you wish hill" we stopped at Nando's for dinner. Then we came home and downed a whole carton of ice cream. It was the perfect girls day: girl movies (in real life), fun, and comfort food.
NANDO'S! I LOVE Nando's! And every one of the places you visited. And the movies. And you.
ReplyDeleteYou've been to Nando's?! When??? I love it too! It's so yummy!
ReplyDeleteYes ma'am! Almost 2 years ago on my study abroad. I think the first time I had it was in Oxford. So delicious.
