Today we went to Beverley to do record searching for our ancestors. The phone booths are white there and I thought that was super cute! It's a really cute little town, but we didn't do much exploring. We spent most of our time (like 5 hours) in the records office. It was a really cool experience!
Here's another picture of the town, but I'm just going to talk about searching records. The books we looked through were super old (like 1700's-1800's) and sometimes the handwriting was really hard to read but it's so cool. One thing that I thought was interesting is that they have these cushions/bean bag things that you have to place the books on when you're reading them. It keeps them from laying flat so that the binding doesn't break as much (if that makes any sense). We found a lot of family names and it was so exciting! DeAnn and I found a whole family of Clarks and we got the coolest feeling. We could tell that they really wanted to be found and that they were super excited. I can't wait to do their temple work! I've always liked to do family names, but I think it will be way more meaningful now than it ever was before.
When we got to Hull, we took a taxi to St. Giles Parish in Marfleet. This is where our great-grandma was baptized, and she grew up here and played in the cemetery around it. We were only there for a few minutes, but there was the coolest feeling there.
Afterwards we went back to Hull to have dinner. The restaurant we went to was right on the marina and there were some super cool boats!
This is DeAnn and Michelle showing you how big their meals were. DeAnn had fish and Michelle had steak. haha. They both were really big, which was good because we were starving!

I thought this sign was hilarious! What the heck is anti climb paint? Well we decided that it's this tar stuff on the top so that if you were to climb up there it would get all sticky. Definitely a concept that I have ever considered before.
We had some really long waits to catch our trains home, so we didn't get back till super late. We had fun though and lots of much-needed conversations. We even went to the grocery store! Tomorrow DeAnn leaves us to go to London with her friend. We'll miss her greatly, but we're super glad she came!
