Today we went to Bradford to do family history and because Heidi had to meet with her professor. Unfortunately her professor didn't show up, but I guess that happens sometimes. Michelle, DeAnn and I got to sit in some awesome chairs while we waited. This is a picture in front of Bradford town hall.
Then we went to the Bradford Universtiy bookstore and found the most hilarious cards! This one was definitely my favorite. It gets funnier the more you think about it. (sorry, I couldn't get it to not be sideways, but hopefully that doesn't ruin it for you)
For lunch we went to Omar's (a Pakistani restaurant) and had curry. Yes that thing is a ginormous piece of naan bread. Best naan I have ever had!
We had SO much food! I felt like I was going to explode. It was super delicious though!
Then we rode a bus to Clayton where there's a cemetery with lots of our Johnson ancestors.
It was one of the coolest cemeteries I have ever been to, and it was so incredibly huge! Don't they look kind of like chess pieces?
Some of the headstones are HUGE!
For three hours we just walked up and down the rows and took pictures of all the headstones that had our family names. It was so much fun! I could do this for days. It was really cool too because right before we started it was super cold, but as soon as we began the sun came out and it was perfectly warm. Then, as soon as we finished it got cold and rainy again. It was so cool! Heavenly Father was definitely watching out for us. My favorite was "chalking" the headstones. If they were super hard to read, we would rub chalk over them to make the words stand out more clearly. We just barely had enough chalk. By the end we were completely out of it. (another blessing, I'm sure)
Some of the headstones had fallen over face down or were completely overtaken by vines and bushes. I felt really bad for the people who were buried there! It's hard to tell in this picture, but to the left of Michelle is a huge headstone that is completely covered in vines (super thick ones). She worked on uncovering it for like 15 minutes and only got a small section. It was crazy! We seriously all needed gardening gloves and huge clippers. Who knew that cemetery searching could be so intense? We did the best we could though and by the end we were exhausted and dirty. It was all worth it!
After the train ride home we made a quick grocery stop and then came straight home and relaxed :) Heidi made some delicious leek & potato soup and we had a short FHE. Now we're just chillin' and I'm sure it will be an early night to bed!
